US Army Intelligence Center, History of the Counter Intelligence Corps Vol. xxx, CIC During Occupation of Korea

Published by Hanlim University, Korea

The US Military Government in Korea (1945-1948) killed more Korean nationalists in four short years than the Japanese (1900-1945) in half century. The main instrument in the killing was the US CIC. The Americans hired those Koreans who served Hirohito - in particular those who were used to track down and kill Korean independence fighters (referred to as "bandits" by the Japanese, Americans and today's S Korean hard-liners) in China.

At the front of these traitors was Kim Chang Ryong. Kim led a unit of Hirohito's Kwangtung Army unit tasked to wipe out Korean nationalists. In 1945, he managed to escape to South Korea and offered his service to the American CIC - whose mission was to eradicate all "Communists" in South Korea. A recently discovered document shows that more than 600,000 nationalists were killed by Kim Chang Ryong and other anti-Korean traitors under the US CIC. Kim Chang Ryong was often forced to kill fellow countrymen by his American masters even though he did not feel the men were "Communists".

Kim Chang Ryong was assassinated by a nationalist in 1956. Donald Nichols who commanded the US CIC (and the Korean CIC) was recalled by the US Government in 1960. A few years later, he returned to S Korea as a civilian advisor to help set up the "KCIA". Nichols became an alcoholic and a gay pedophile. He died insane having nightmares of North Korean hitmen going after his family and relatives (who disowned him).
