Welcome to Okanogan Times

Okanogan Times is no longer being published.  Despite our enthusiastic reception in the Okanogan and around the state, Editor Edna Siniff and Marketing Director Pam Fancher felt that they could do a better newspaper on their own and left to establish the short-lived (one issue) Okanogan Journal with the writers and other contributors as well as the advertising base developed by Okanogan Times.  Because there has been so much demand for the material contained in the issues of Okanogan Times we will continue to make them available at this website for the foreseeable future.  We wish to thank the many readers who followed our newspaper.  We regret that we are unable to bring you further issues.

Okanogan Times began as an early online newsletter, but the demand for a print version convinced us to do the old-fashioned thing and publish a small community newspaper. We needed competent and loyal help and that turned out to be an elusive goal.

We think some of the writing in these pages is as good as anything to come from or talk about the Okanogan. Some stories have disappeared over the years in server crashes and overwritten backups. We will continue to look for those and post them as we find them.

BIRTHRIGHT is a superbly written work. Bailey's characterizations are realistic and the country scenes vivid and fresh. He knows his subject and brings the reader along for a sometimes sad but nevertheless enlightening journey. I highly recommend this book and look forward to Larry Bailey's subsequent work..... Covenant - a binding agreement between a man and wife, a family, a government and its people, each party equal to the other in responsibility obligations, duty, and benefits...
Powerfully written, enlightening and thought provoking, Larry L. Bailey fans don't want to miss this one...  "> ---Priscilla A. Maine, Author of Angels Unaware

In this visceral and disturbing novel about an era that many of today's politicians, i.e. George Bush Jr., would just as soon forget, Larry Bailey attempts to match through language what William Hogarth accomplished with his paintings of the unromantic underside of eighteenth century English society, and he succeeds brilliantly.  -- Kate Saundby Author of THE NUBLIS CHRONICLES
