04/26 kww, kr-war: The Korean War: A 50-Year Critical
Historiography, by Prof. Allan R. Millett - Scholarly research and publication in many countries has made the Korean War not only remembered, but also better understood. Material from Russia and China have been especially helpful in adding nuance and detail to now-dated writing about the war’s causes. Much more work needs to be done on Korean politics and the 1952–53 period, but in all the scholarship simply confirms the shared responsibility of all the belligerents – including the Koreans – in starting and continuing the war.

Policymakers and academics have grappled for years to explain why North Korea has fiercely resisted reforms to a rigid command economy responsible for the starvation and death of 3 million of the country’s citizens. 04/07 kww: "North Should Ignore Bush and Continue What It Has Been Doing with South" - Bernard Krisher (People's Korea): Bush is “a bully in a birthday party” who suddenly disturbs the whole nice atmosphere. He doesn’t know about Korea and its people. He doesn’t know how hard Kim Dae Jung and Kim Jong Il worked to put fracture together. Madelleine Albright had talks in Pyongyang and she had a great success. She was so welcomed by Kim Jong Il. But Bush didn’t like Albright. He didn’t like Clinton. So he shattered all of this and destroyed everything the Clinton government had built up.
